South Australia extends a warm invitation to you all for the 58th Tom Quilty Gold Cup event on the 18th-19th October 2024. Once again returning to Wirrina Cove we hope you can join us for what we are sure will be another unforgettable and exciting Tom Quilty event.
Originally inhabited by the Ramindjeri people, the word Wirrina means “a place to go”. We believe it will be the place to be in October 2024. Below is a picture of ride base during 2017 Tom Quilty.
Cabins in the campground are available to book but your horse may not be accommodated near by. The Breakfree Wirrina Cove Resort is 500m and an 8 minute up hill walk from ride base and will be the location of the TQ after party. 172 Paradise Dr, Wirrina Cove SA 5204. They have many rooms at reasonable rates and have a restaurant and cafeteria.
Ride base will be open Monday 14 October to Monday 21 October via a biosecurity check at Yankalilla Showgrounds.
Yankalilla and Normanville have good supermarkets, bakeries and liquor options and are about 10km from ride base. There are many tourist options in easy driving distance of Wirrina including Kangaroo Island, Victor Harbor and Goolwa beach with the iconic Murray Mouth.
The nearest fodder store is nearly an hour away and pending demand may do deliveries. Top Range Feeds.
The course will be very similar to that run in 2017 with hopefully much more pleasant weather and longer daylight hours to take advantage of the amazing views. Those who rode in 2017 know Wirrina is at sea level and every leg goes up (approximately 350m) and comes down with plenty of undulations in between.
